Minister Opens Refurbished EMCThe ACT Minister for Community Services, Joy Burch, opened the newly refurbished Early Morning Centre on Wednesday 6 July 2011. The refurbished centre includes toilets, showers and a laundry for our guests, an enlarged common area, an upgraded kitchen, storage space and better office and interview space. These improvements will make a significant difference to the services we can provide.. Among other things we are planning to use the kitchen and other facilities for a range of life skill programs. Media Release - 4 May 2009The Board of UnitingCare Canberra City is delighted to acknowledge today’s ACT Budget announcement of funding of $750,000 to expand and upgrade the Early Morning Centre located in Pilgrim House in the Canberra City Uniting Church. Expansion of the Early Morning Centre will provide much needed access to shower and laundry facilities for people in our community who are marginalised, particularly those people who are sleeping rough. Upgrading the kitchen and storage facilities offers opportunities to assist people in need of support through the provision of breakfasts, support and referral services in a safe and supportive environment. We look forward to working with the ACT Government on this expansion in order to better serve the needs of people in our community who may be marginalised in some way.
