Media Release - 4 May 2009The Board of UnitingCare Canberra City is delighted to acknowledge today’s ACT Budget announcement of funding of $750,000 to expand and upgrade the Early Morning Centre located in Pilgrim House in the Canberra City Uniting Church. Expansion of the Early Morning Centre will provide much needed access to shower and laundry facilities for people in our community who are marginalised, particularly those people who are sleeping rough. Upgrading the kitchen and storage facilities offers opportunities to assist people in need of support through the provision of breakfasts, support and referral services in a safe and supportive environment. We look forward to working with the ACT Government on this expansion in order to better serve the needs of people in our community who may be marginalised in some way. ACT Government SupportThe ACT government continues to support our early morning centre in the city. The aim of the centre is to provide an early morning drop-in centre that provides a range of support services for the target group, including: - 7.30 am-8.30am
Serving breakfast, juice, tea, coffee, etc - 9.00am to 11.30am
