Tongan National Conference

The 2008 UCA Tongan National Conference was held at Marrickville Community Centre, 142 Addison Rd. Marrickville. Sydney on June 5 - 9 .   Members of the To e Talatalano congregation at City Church  traveled to Sydney to participate.

Prize Winning Garden

Building Peace Through Hiapo Making

Sioana Faupula and Stella Naimet  facilitated a Hiapo making project as a way of building relationships between women from different cultural backgrounds.  Hiapo making is the ‘art’ of making tapa ‘cloth’ out of mulberry bark, found in various Polynesian countries.

Participants had an opportunity to make their own designs (motifs) and transfer them onto  a ‘cloth’.  The finished products were displayed at the National Multicultural Festival in February 2005.
