Our 1925 George Fincham & Sons pipe organ has recently been completely rebuilt and the main control mechanism changed from fully pneumatic to electro pneumatic .
The overall sound of the instrument has been much improved through re-voicing of the pipes and tonal refinishing of the instrument. The new modern mechanism make the organ more manageable for organists and also produces an exciting voice for leading worship singing, as well as being a more viable recital instrument.
A special recital will be held on Saturday 25 February 2012 at 4.00pm led by Peter Guy (Director of Music, Christ Church Cathedral, Newcastle) and this will be followed by a light afternoon tea.
The organ will be rededicated during the morning service on Sunday
26 February 2012 at 10.00am. Our own organists will present a short recital after the service.
An open invitation is extended to anyone who would like to attend either of these activities. Free underground parking will be available with entry from Rudd Street.
